caring for your jewellery

We work mostly with brass and sterling silver which are then plated in rhodium or 18 karat gold. All sterling silver, brass, and bronze develop a natural patina from exposure to air, moisture, dirt and oils. To maintain a bright finish, keep jewellery clean and dry, store in an airtight container. Avoid contact with skin care products, hair products, cooking and cleaning products.

cleaning your jewellery

  • Clean your jewellery carefully with a soft, non-abrasive and lint-free cloth; this helps maintain or bring back its shine.
  • If necessary, you can use a mild washing up liquid with warm water and a soft toothbrush, then rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid using ‘dip’ polish or abrasive jewellery cleaners as these contain harsh chemicals and can destroy your jewellery over time.

  • We do not recommend the use of any jewellery polishing cloths which have been treated with cleaners or polishing agents.

  • Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off when dressing.

  • Do not expose to perfume, hairspray, make-up, nail polish remover, body oils, sun tan lotion and deodorant.

  • Do not swim or shower while wearing gold-plated or silver jewellery, and remove rings when washing your hands.

  • Keep your plated pieces gold and gleaming by storing them in their pouch and remember not to buff too hard when wiping with a polishing cloth.

  • Wear your silver with you everywhere to keep tarnish at bay.

  • Keep your jewellery separately in its pouch or an airtight bag.
